The mansion hits on a hill at the bottom of a valley. Mountain spring up along all sides, and thick forests rise several hundred yards beyond the mansion's grounds in all directions but the east. A lake sits in the east, surrounded by grasslands, until that too is swallowed up by the trees soon after. Are you willing to risk the forests as opposed to the mansion?
