HOW THE SITE WORKS
Hi, there. This thread will explain everything you need to know on how this site functions in terms of set up, characters, deaths, the mystery, the mansion, role-play, and well, everything.
GETTING INTO A MYSTERY
you really want to die?
you really want to die?
- Once your character is accepted, an admin will direct you to the nearest open mystery. You can jump right in as if your character has been there the entire time--just be subtle about the ways your character has affected others in the past.
- You can have a maximum of two characters per mystery.
- Should all the ongoing mysteries be filled, a new one will be created for you and others quickly recruited to fill the spots.
- We're going to try and keep the ratio of males to females in the mystery 1:1. However, keeping six guys and four girls, or vice versa, will be fine as well.
- The same thing goes with age range. We'll try to keep a wide variety of ages, unless the mystery goes by a specific theme (18-20, all 40+, etc).BEING IN A MYSTERY
it's the most important game of your life - A designated murderer will be trying to go around and, you know, murder your character. Don't be offended if your character is signaled out, as it is a game.
- Should your character be attacked, please be realistic. Yes, you can fight off that person, but you're not going to every time. Someone is going to have to die, and chances are everyone is going to if the murderer is smart. Know when your character's time has come, and be reasonable in the amount of times your evade death. You can always try your character in another mystery, or maybe some sort of plot twist will reveal your character to be less dead than you originally thought. (Who says death is permanent anyways?)
- Should the murderer be reasonable, but no one seems to want to let their characters die, a dice-system will be initiated for that particular mystery. Just be reasonable and you'll free reign.
- The mystery ends when all the characters have died, or somehow left the arena. There is a way....
- Be reasonable. Please. Just be... reasonable. Don't avoid death an impossible amount of times, and, murderers, please don't be perfect in your murders as well. Don't discover the identity of the murderer right away, nor all the secrets of the mansion straight away too. Be creative, be reasonable, and the story will write itself with minimal interference from the admins.
THE MURDERERS
your hands will be stained red before the very end
your hands will be stained red before the very end
- A murderer will be preselected by an admin before a mystery starts. The murderer's writer will then have to reveal out of character who they are so everyone knows going into the game who to go to if they decide it's their time to die.
- If you wish to be a murderer, request so to an admin. They will consider it, but they may choose to decline your request.
- If you are selected as a murderer, and really don't want to be one, just tell an admin and it can be arranged for someone else to take your spot. However, keep in mind that the murderer doesn't have to be a sadistic madman or woman. There's another man pulling the strings, and he may have made an argument your character couldn't refuse (he'd kill your charrie, your charrie's family, twenty others, mind control, etc.)
- Hey. If your character wants to, they can come straight out clean about being the murderer if they want to. There's more to the plot than the murderers, there's also escape, and how they got there, and maybe coming out would be a really good, or really bad, thing to do.
OTHER PLOT ELEMENTS

- Like I've said: there's more to the story than the murders. Look to the 'other plot elements' thread to find out more about the arena, the mystery, and who the man behind the curtain is. These other plot elements will make a huge impact on your story, and maybe, just maybe, allow your characters to get out alive.
